International projects: The DRC has initiated a study on volunteers safety and security with a particular focus on urban volunteers in Africa. This is as part of the volunteer alliance and contributes to the IFRC volunteering plan of action. In general, the majority of the DRC’s international projects has as an OD component which aims to support volunteer management. As part hereof, the DRC supports the training of management and staff in caring for volunteers. This takes place together with the psycosocial support reference centre.

The DRC is part of a working group, tasked with updating the Guidance on National Society Standards document. Here we have provided input i.a. to the volunteers section, including on safety of volunteers.
