Dissemination of IDRL Guidelines, Training / workshop on IDRL, Technical assistance, Peer to peer exchange (e.g. with other governments and / or National Society)
The main activity conducted by the ItRC is related to the increased dissemination and knowledge of the IDRL guidelines within the population through its existing comunication channels. Alongside, several workshops were organized in order to prepare citizens to be ready with a first response in case o natural calamity, such as earthquake or fire.
With regards to the training and dissemination of the IDRL guidelines, an update course will be launched in June 2017 in collaboration with the IFRC and other institutions (University of Roma 3 and San Remo Institute). The lessons - to be held by national and international teachers / experts - aims to disseminate and share the regulatory and operational framework across all disaster law systems.
Technical assistance (e.g. provides input into a draft law or policy related to DRR, supports implementation of relevant laws and procedures, etc.)
The ItRC has continued to participate in all important meetings with the national authorities in charge of civil protection, with a focus on the improvement of technical assistance and shared procedures.
Due to the reorganization process of the Association of the Italian RC in 2016 (transition from public to private), there was no occasion to review legal framework with the public authorities. Given the recent earthquakes, which hit the center of Italy, the NS is bringing to the attention of the relevant Ministries (e.g. Ministry of Foreign Affairs) the importance of an overall update and dissemination of the IDRL guidelines.
Public awareness and public education , Assessment of risk and vulnerability, NS response and preparedness (contingency plans, standard operating procedures, pre-disaster meetings, disaster preparedness stocks), Waste disposal, Advocacy, Disaster preparedness and contingency policies, plans and programmes
