Foster the improvement of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) legislation through advocacy, adaptation of international experience and involving in relevant initiatives, responding to DRR key issues at the local level.


Action plan

• Cooperate with RA Government, particularly with the Ministry of Territorial
Administration and Emergency Situations, DRR National Platform and legal system.
• Raise public and local authorities awareness on legislation to influence the decision making process.
• Actively participate in relevant meetings and initiatives.
• Closely cooperate with UN, especially with UNDP and UN OCHA in the frames of legislation base improvement steps, develop/implement joint projects and ideas.
• Keep legislative key issues in partners focus, through necessary advocacy actions among DRR National Platform members
• Contact and cooperate with IFRC Geneva office “Disaster Law” project, to be aware of international developments and accumulated experience in the field, to adapt it and implement relevant advocacy.
• Support implementation of DRM legislative Advocacy Activities which are grouped into two main categories: those directed towards the improvement of the legal framework for disaster risk reduction in Armenia and those seeking to improve implementation of the existing legal framework and were defined based on the “Law and Regulation for Urban DRR in Yerevan” survey findings, implemented in 2015 with support of Disaster Law Programme, Geneva.
